“Pyeong Rong: Stellar Whisper” is a modern interpretation of traditional Korean music, like the Jongmyojeryeak (Royal ancestral ritual music), Arirang, and Pansori. The musical performances are combined with 3D Projection Mapping technology to create a more immersive musical experience. Shows are held at the Namsangol Hanok Village.
A Musical Journey of Life
“Pyeong Rong: Stellar Whisper” is based on the musical philosophies from the Joseon Period, that music originates from the heaven and the earth. Under this concept, music was more than just the sounds it produced; it was a way to stir human emotions. Each of the seven musical pieces will take its listeners on a journey through the joys, anger, sorrow, and happiness of life.
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Jongmyojere is an annual ancestral rite held in honor of the spirits of the kings and queens of the Joseon Period at Jongmyo Royal Shrine. Jongmyojereyak is played during the rites, accompanied by dance. Together, they have been designated by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Pansori is a musical storytelling, performed by a vocalist accompanied by a traditional Korean drum (buk). The epic narrative, which can last up to eight hours are characterized by their unique style, gestures, and expressions.
An Exceptional Show by the Finest Producers and Artists
The “Pyeong Rong” performance in Seoul is created by the finest producers and artists from Korean and abroad. Jong Ga Ak Hoe (Korean Traditional Music Ensemble), has been at the forefront of Korean traditional music since its establishment in 2000. The internationally renowned ensemble is known for their modern adaptation of traditional music, and their energetic performances of diverse genres. The arrangements have been commissioned to Yoon Ji-young. Currently serving as the Dean of Musicians Institute in Hollywood, she is well-known for the establishment of a K-pop curriculum. The 3D Projection Mapping is created by Interactive Designer Jang Seung-joo, a leading designer at the University of Arts London. The stage is brought to life by Son Ho-sung, an award winning set designer.
A Vivid Stage with 3D Media Facade
“Pyeong Rong: Stellar Whisper” will combine a 3D media Façade with a minimalistic stage to breathe life into the concert. The exterior walls of the building will be used as a screen for a more immersive experience than a traditional screen. Korean traditional music blends with technology for a truly unique experience.
"... Music originates in the heaven and dwells within man.
Music is created from the void and manifests itself in nature.
Music moves your hearts, stirs your blood, quickens your pulse, and lifts your soul ..."
